Refractory Staff, Mechanical Staff and Paint/General Help.
(15) Direct reports.
Summary
Hands-on role that manages production workers to execute fabrication and assembly plans. Responsible to control quality and productivity expectations. Responsible for oversight of safety best practices in all areas of the shop floor.
Responsibilities
- Supervising the members of the manufacturing department in the assembly of fully operational furnaces on schedule and on budget.
- Maintain master production schedules and individual job schedules to keep Managers and customers apprised of delivery status.
- Monitor and present to Dept. Managers all aspects of scheduling conflicts which will affect shipment.
- Assist in make/buy decisions regarding cost/delivery/quality.
- Assist in Vendor selection process as necessary and visit as needed.
- Supervise breakdown, pack, and ship completed furnaces.
- Analyze cost overruns in manufacturing.
- Allocation for floor space, utilities, resources, and equipment.
- Review of print packages to verify completeness.
- Address issues with personnel.
- Maintaining facilities and shop equipment.
- Comply with all corporate policy and procedures.
Written Report Requirements
- Analytical Reports on cost overruns in manufacturing
- Production and Manpower loading schedules.
- Weekly estimate to complete for manufacturing hours.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Job
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree in technology related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of supervisory or management experience leading production workers.
- Strong communication skills; verbal, written as well as listening skills.
- Manage productively and efficiently your own time and your subordinates time in dealing with multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of high temperature furnace design, construction and assembly.
- Read blueprints and schematics.
- Document and distribute production meeting minutes.
- Knowledge of OSHA workplace safety requirements.
- Knowledge of equipment packing and shipping procedures.
- Determine the manpower and plan requirements for department.
- Provide an employee with constructive criticism.
- Conduct a formal employee performance appraisal.
- Communicate well with subordinates and superiors.
- Size and schedule trucking for shipments - domestic and overseas containers.
- Should be able to lift at least 50 lbs, work with both hands, and stand well.
- Occasional travel may be required.

Direct Reports: (4) Field Service Technicians
Summary
Hands-on role that manages and coordinates activities of Field Service Technicians to successfully execute test plans. Responsible for oversight of best safety practices.
Responsibilities
- Promptly give customers in the field appropriate resolutions of technical problems that might arise and utilize other departments to assist if required.
- Supervise and lead in-house equipment testing.
- Test new equipment and Aftermarket equipment so that it ships on budget and on schedule.
- Teach corporate strategy, policies, and procedures.
- Provide as needed training updates to Field Service Technicians.
- Establish appropriate staffing and work allocation for the department.
- Develop skill set in all department personnel to better execute tasks.
- Maintain and report weekly schedule for Field Service and Testing.
- Maintain and report weekly field service call log.
- Work with Aftermarket Sales to identify components needed for service or replacement.
- Review orders and create test plan for Internal jobs and field service support or startup.
- Occasional travel to customer locations for service or startup.
- Book Field Service visits with customers and process warranties.
Written Report Requirements
- Schedule for Field Service and Testing.
- Field service call log.
- Field service summary reports.
- Weekly estimate to complete for test and startup hours.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, And Abilities Needed to Perform Job
- Minimum or a High School or Associates degree.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Strong communication skills; verbal, written as well as listening skills.
- Manage productively and efficiently your own time and your subordinates time in dealing with multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of high temperature furnace design, construction, assembly, and repair.
- Read blueprints and schematics.
- Identify and use instruments and tools needed for repair and troubleshooting.
- Familiar with Industrial PLC’s & HMI’s.
- Able to program PID Control loops.
- Good debug and troubleshooting skills.
- Determine the manpower and plan requirements for department.
- Take corrective action when jobs are running over budgeted hours.
- Provide an employee with constructive criticism.
- Conduct a formal employee performance appraisal.
- Create and update reports using Microsoft Excel.
- Create documents and procedures using Microsoft Excel.
- Should be able to lift at least 50 lbs, work with both hands, and stand well.
- Required travel up to 10%.
